Overclocking is the process of speeding up or increasing the clock speed than official efficiency provided by Manufacturer. In other words, overclocking is the method of configuring the hardware components to obtain extra utility and performance than the default.
We have to take many precautions while overclocking your Intel Core iU. Overclocking is method triggering main processor or graphics controller, but systems such as RAM are also involved in this process which leads to an increase in power consumption and fan noise.
Due to overclocking many manufacturers gives the extra functionality of safety to deal with operating conditions outside the control of manufacturers.
The disadvantage of overclocking your Intel processor is overheating and more power usage. Ultimately, heating will result in decreasing the life span of your CPU. List of all Unlocked Processors. You can also get help by posting questions in the link below. Please click "Yes" for "Did this answer the question", if I resolve the problem. If you are comfortable with XTU go ahead and use that. R7vmc said:. February edited February There is a possibility that it could cause the system to become unstable.
Voltage itself will not create performance. The system needs enough voltage to allow for the system to be stable when at a certain clockspeed. Hence overclockers will gradually increase voltage to the processor when overclocking a system to insure the system is stable. So when doing the opposite you will need to gradually drop voltage and test the system to insure that it stays stable. You shouldn't notice any performance penalties unless you decide to drop the clockspeed with it but it could cause stability issues.

Normally windows open in 10 second but this time maybe it was 1 minute to open my laptop. Finally windows opened and when i want to open XTU again, program says it was a mistake and all the configurations are reset. When i check XTU, core voltage offset is 0. I make all the settings like factory mode and i unintsalled the XTU from my laptop.
And i have a question. Is this operation give any damage or harm to my proccesor? Or Stunning windows at I've tried in And i want to try Is this value so much for i5 u proccesor?Reduced voltage.
Intel's new ULV quad-core processors are very fast, but they also get very warm and consume more power, especially compared to the previous dual-core models.Zzf submariner
We took two current laptops from Lenovo and tried to reduce the core voltage of the processors via the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility undervolting. They offer four native CPU cores and are much faster compared to the old dual-cores.
However, this also results in higher power consumption and higher temperatures. We have already tested numerous devices and there can be big differences when it comes to the performance utilization.Profilati per costruzioni
Not every processor is identical, so Intel sets a default voltage to make sure the processor works without problems at the designed specs. This leaves unused potential for optimizations, so you can improve your laptop with some time and testing. Note: The shown values only apply for our specific test models.
Even identical configurations can behave differently and you should be conservative when you try to find the limit. We recommend reducing the voltage in small steps and testing every level with the integrated Intel XTU stress test see following picturefor example.
Notebookcheck assumes no liability for possible damage caused by modifications. However, this will require much more than the specified TDP of 15 W. Lenovo increases the power limits of the processor to 29 W for short workloads up to 28 s and 23 W for longer load periods, which is still sufficient for about 2. The processor still hits the TDP limits, so we checked two different scenarios:.

The TDP limits are still in place, so neither the processor temperature nor the power consumption change during our one-hour Cinebench loop. You should still optimize the core voltage even if you are happy with the regular CPU performance.
We compared the two Cinebench loops in the diagram below. The processor clock is almost identical, but there are substantial differences in terms of temperature and obviously the consumption which we set manually.
We could not notice a different fan behavior, though. The power limit is already set to 44 W, but the Core i5 "only" needs about 29 W for the full 3.We calculate effective speed which measures real world performance for typical users.
